What's the difference between Predictive, Passive and Active surveys?

Predictive models the RF from your floor plan and material spec without a site visit, right for new builds and refurbs at the design stage. Passive is an on-site walk with Ekahau Sidekick (or AP-on-a-stick) measuring actual signal, noise, channel utilisation and rogue APs, right for existing networks needing rework. Active is a live performance test against a production WiFi, throughput, roaming continuity, voice quality, packet loss, right for VoWiFi handsets, RTLS validation and clinical roaming. Most projects use 2 of the 3: Predictive at design + Active at validation, or Passive + Active for rebuilds.

How long does an on-site walk take?

Depending on complexity and size, a standard 1,000sqm office takes 4-6 hours, while a large hospital or warehouse can span several days.

Do we need to power down our existing WiFi?

No. We can survey around existing networks to identify interference or capture baseline performance data without causing downtime.

Is a "predictive" survey enough?

Predictive surveys are great for budget estimates, but only an on-site walk validates the physical environment's impact on RF.
