Consumer Chromecast doesn’t work reliably in hotels because hotel WiFi isolates guest devices for security, which is the same isolation that prevents Chromecast’s discovery protocol from finding a TV. Is hotel TV casting safe and private?
Yes, when it’s implemented at the network layer. Each room’s TV is isolated, so a guest in room 412 can’t see, or cast to, the TV in room 411. At checkout, all pairings clear automatically. The guest’s streaming credentials stay on the phone and never touch the hotel network.
