An active heatmap survey before any hardware was committed.
An established Australian hotel asked Liveport to assess its existing WiFi before deciding whether to replace it. An on-site Ekahau survey identified the actual coverage and capacity issues, and reframed the problem from a hardware question to a configuration and placement one.
WiFi complaints across the property. The team wanted independent data before authorising a rebuild.
Mercure Kawana Waters was experiencing WiFi complaints across portions of the property. Front desk had limited visibility into which areas were affected and why.
Rather than commit to a vendor-led rebuild quote without diagnostic data, the hotel engaged Liveport to conduct an independent on-site survey of the existing wireless infrastructure, using industry-standard Ekahau Pro tooling, and to provide a vendor-neutral set of recommendations.
Active heatmap, not predictive, because the building already exists.
This is the case where Liveport runs an active (measured) site survey rather than a predictive one. The hotel was already operating, the existing APs were already in place, and the question wasn’t where to mount new hardware, it was whether the existing layout, channel plan and configuration were actually doing what the previous integrator had specified.
Active surveys are the right methodology when you’re validating or troubleshooting an existing deployment. Predictive modelling alone can’t tell you what’s really happening on a live RF environment with real client devices and real interference.
Ekahau Pro walk-through. RF spectrum analysis. Independent recommendations.
A Liveport engineer walked the property with Ekahau Pro, the same tooling used on every Liveport hospital, hotel and PBSA assessment. Coverage maps, channel utilisation, throughput per AP, inter-AP interference, capacity validation against actual room occupancy patterns.
The deliverable wasn’t a quote. It was a documented report, heat maps, RF spectrum analysis, AP performance audit, and a set of recommendations sized to the actual building and the actual data, not a multiplier on the room count.
Recommendations followed Liveport’s standard three-tier framework: configuration optimisation of existing kit, targeted coverage adjustments, or full rebuild, with the operator choosing the tier that fit their priorities and capital constraints.
Independent data. Vendor-neutral recommendations. The operator chooses what to do with it.
The output of a Liveport survey is documentation, not a sales pitch. Mercure Kawana Waters received heat maps, RF analysis, AP-level performance data and a tiered recommendation framework, and used it to make data-driven decisions about their wireless infrastructure investment.
This is the engagement model Liveport runs for every survey-only client: independent assessment, no hardware sale tied to the report, recommendations grounded in our Ekahau ECSE methodology. Operators get the evidence they need to decide whether to optimise, enhance or rebuild, without the assessor also being the seller.
Liveport has run survey engagements like this across many Australian properties. The methodology is the same on every job; the recommendations are sized to each building.
“Independent assessment means the recommendations are sized to the actual building, not to a sales target.”
