Looking at existing networks, and how Liveport can improve them with Professional Surveying and Design
HOTEL – GUEST CONNECTIVITY
In this example we look at a Hotel that had an older corridor wifi deployment. Whilst it may have worked great 5-10 years ago,
the way people use wifi has changed and this network couldn’t keep up.
With the wireless network originally being designed for sending emails and basic connectivity,
the network was not capable of meeting the guests needs with services such as streaming and video calling.
Upon conducting a Site Survey, we see that there is not nearly enough coverage, and the network will need to
be designed specifically for the new equipment.
BEFORE
– Terrible signal coverage in most of the rooms.
– Chanel overlap on the 2.4ghz frequency band
– Low data rates
– Old equipment not capable of 5ghz

AFTER
– Putting AP‘s in guest rooms increases connectivity
– Upgrading to dual band increases data rates by adding 5ghz
– Using 5ghz allows for more channels to be used, so less channel overlap
– Conducting a site survey can save money on access points by placing them
in the correct locations, not just adding more
